NEW DELHI, May 28 (Xinhua) -- A massive fire broke out at a plastic godown in the western Indian state of Rajasthan Monday, officials said.

"The fire broke out at the godown in the city of Jodhpur. Fortunately, there have been no reports of any casualty as all workers were evacuated right on time," a fire official said.

Some 20 fire tenders have been pressed into service to douse the flames.

"The fire started in the godown and spread to other parts of the three-storied building. Efforts are on to contain the fire," the official said.

Local TV channels showed footage of white smoke billowing out of the building and reported that goods worth millions have been destroyed in the fire.

"Though an electrical short circuit is said to be the likely cause of the fire, a probe has been ordered. The godown owner will be booked for negligence, following the probe," he added.

In January, 17 people were killed in a major fire at an illegal firecracker factory in the Indian capital. The factory owner was arrested by police and charged for the deaths.
