BEIRUT, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and four others injured on Sunday afternoon in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon, the Lebanese health ministry reported.

An Israeli drone carried out an airstrike at around 2:20 p.m. local time, firing two guided missiles at a car on the Aabba-Doueir road in the Nabatieh district, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

The strike killed the driver, injured three, including a 9-year-old boy, and caused severe damage to nearby houses, according to NNA. A 4-year-old girl was also injured while playing in the courtyard of her home near the road, but NNA did not identify the third injured.

Israeli airstrikes also targeted a bulldozer with five missiles in the town of Qanarit in the Sidon district, while it was working to remove debris from the site of the latest aggression on the town.

Lebanon's Ministry of Health said Israeli raids on the town injured one person.

Meanwhile, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said on the X platform that Israeli Defense Forces targeted on Sunday a Hezbollah "terrorist" member in Doueir.

Adraee said that Israeli forces destroyed infrastructure in southern Lebanon to prevent attempts to rebuild the terrorist Hezbollah's capabilities.

Earlier in the day, NNA reported that an Israeli force carried out a dawn incursion into the town of Rab Thalateen in the Marjeyoun district, detonating two houses and causing extensive damage to nearby homes.

The municipality of Aita al-Shaab said two agricultural aircraft flew over the town's outskirts in the Al-Hima area, spraying trees and farmland with substances suspected of being toxic, the agency said.

Despite a ceasefire that took effect on Nov. 27, 2024, Israeli forces have continued to carry out strikes in Lebanon, citing threats from Hezbollah, while maintaining positions at five key points along the Lebanese border.
