BUENOS AIRES, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Striker Dylan Aquino netted a hat-trick as Lanus cruised to a 5-0 home win over Newell's Old Boys in Argentina's Apertura tournament on Tuesday.

Walter Bou opened the scoring with a 16th-minute penalty and Aquino struck twice in the space of three minutes as the hosts raced to a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Aquino scored again with a long-range drive into the top-right corner and the 20-year-old then set up his side's fifth goal with a precise cross that Eduardo Salvio swept in from six yards.

Newell's had just two shots on target as it slumped to its seventh loss in 10 games this campaign.

Lanus is now fourth in the 15-team Group A with 15 points, 12 ahead of last-placed Newell's.

Elsewhere in Argentina's top flight on Tuesday, Estudiantes won 2-1 at Gimnasia y Esgrima and Central Cordoba prevailed 1-0 at home to Deportivo Riestra. ■
