GAZA, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Three Palestinians were killed Sunday in two separate Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, including two members of the Hamas-run interior authorities, according to Palestinian sources.

Eyewitnesses said an Israeli drone struck a civilian vehicle northwest of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. Civil Defense sources told Xinhua that two bodies were recovered and eight wounded were taken to hospital.

Hamas-run interior authorities in Gaza said in a press statement that the two killed in the strike were Wissam Abdel-Hadi, head of the Criminal Investigation Department in Khan Younis, and Sergeant Fadi Heikal.

Separately, a Palestinian was killed and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting a gathering of citizens in al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, according to the Civil Defense.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military on these developments.

Over the past few weeks, the Israeli army has targeted security checkpoints and police vehicles across the Gaza Strip, resulting in deaths and injuries. Such operations are usually justified as targeting armed elements or potential threats.

Since a ceasefire was declared on Oct. 10, 2025, a total of 851 Palestinians have been killed and more than 2,437 others wounded by Israeli fire. According to Gaza-based health authorities, the total death toll since Oct. 7, 2023, has reached 72,737, with 172,539 wounded. ■
