TOKYO, May 10 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier George Washington left its home port in Yokosuka, south of Tokyo, on Sunday, local media reported.
The aircraft carrier underwent maintenance at the base after participating in a multilateral exercise in December 2025. Sunday's departure is likely for sea trials, according to Kyodo News.
The George Washington has been stationed at the U.S. naval base in Yokosuka since November 2024, the second time it has been deployed in the city. It had been previously stationed there from 2008 to 2015. ■
