NEW DELHI, May 12 (Xinhua) -- India's retail inflation rose to 3.48 percent in April, data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI) showed on Tuesday.
The inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in April is 3.48 percent, the ministry said. In March, the CPI was 3.4 percent.
The food inflation rose to 4.2 percent in April from 3.87 percent in March, the data showed.
According to officials, the real-time price data are collected from selected 1,407 urban markets, including online markets, and 1,465 villages covering all states through personal visits by field staff of the field operations division of the National Statistical Office under the MoSPI on a weekly roster. ■
