The HKSAR government also said that the Chinese New Year fireworks show will be canceled following the fatal Tai Po bus accident.

Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, the Chief Executive of HKSAR held a press conference on Monday to report the aftermath of the traffic accident. She said professional social workers have provided support to 84 involved families of the bus accident.

She also said the government decide to cancel the Chinese New Year fireworks show scheduled for Feb. 17 and suggested sponsors of the fireworks show to donate money to families involved in the accident.

Meanwhile, Lam encouraged all civil servants to observe a one-minute silence by standing at their work station or area in a dignified manner at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

The accident happened at around 6:15 p.m. local time on Saturday, when a bus on its way to Tai Po from Shatin racecourse toppled to its left on Tai Po Road, destroying a bus station on roadside, killing 19 and injuring dozens more.
