GAZA, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinians were injured in Israeli multiple airstrikes on facilities belonging to Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, local sources said.

Ashraf al-Qedra, the Gaza health ministry spokesman, told reporters that two Palestinians were injured in an Israeli tank shelling on eastern Rafah town in southern Gaza.

No injuries were reported according to paramedics, but severe damage was caused to homes of eastern Gaza residents.

Al Qassam Brigades militants said on their wireless transmission sound devices that they fired anti-craft missiles against Israeli war jets and forced them to leave Gaza.

Meanwhile, Hamas Spokesman in Gaza Hazen Qassem blamed Israel for causing escalation in Gaza.

"Hamas will continue to resist and the Israeli attacks won't break our people's determination," he said.

Earlier in the afternoon, an Israeli tank fired a shell at a Hamas military post in Gaza in retaliation for the same incident.

Meanwhile, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack on the Israeli army vehicle, which wounded three Israeli soldiers.
