HANOI, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met here Friday with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on bilateral ties.

During their meeting on the sidelines of the sixth summit of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Economic Cooperation, Wang said China and Cambodia are a community of common destiny which is of strategic importance and the two countries have been supporting, trusting and helping each other.

China will as always support Cambodia for choosing its own development path that meets the national conditions and support Cambodia in safeguarding sovereignty and national interests, Wang said.

He said China is willing to continue deepening and expanding the friendly cooperation as well as strengthen communication and coordination in regional affairs between the two sides.

Wang believed that Cambodia will continue to play an active role in pushing forward the healthy development of relations between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

For his part, Hun Sen said China has firmly supported Cambodia in safeguarding sovereignty, independence and dignity and expressed gratitude for China's strong support.

The Cambodian prime minister said his country is willing to continue making its contribution to pushing forward the cooperation between China and the ASEAN.
