GAZA, July 9 (Xinhua) -- A high-ranking Hamas delegation will head to Cairo on Wednesday to hold talks with senior Egyptian security officials on pushing forward the stalled internal Palestinian reconciliation, an official Hamas source said Monday.

The visit to Cairo came at the invitation of the Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel, said local news website, quoting the source which spoke on condition of anonymity.

According to the report by website "Quds Press," Hamas delegation will discuss with the Egyptian intelligence developments of the Palestinian reconciliation and ways to lift the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.

The delegation will meet with Kamel on Thursday in an attempt to revive the efforts of internal Palestinian reconciliation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party, which had been "stalled" for several months.

The Palestinian delegation will be headed by Saleh al-Aarouri, deputy head of Hamas' political bureau, said the report.

Egypt invited the two movements Fatah and Hamas a week ago in order to resume negotiations on reconciliation and ending the ongoing division in the Palestinian arena since June 2007.

Meanwhile, Ghazi Hamad, a senior Hamas movement leader, warned in a press statement that "if Hamas talks in Cairo fails, including the reconciliation file, this means that everything will totally collapse."

"The most prominent reason that makes internal reconciliation fail is confidence crisis between Fatah and Hamas," Hamad said, adding "the Palestinians, including Hamas and Fatah, have been disappointed by the previous useless rounds of reconciliation."

On Sunday night, President Abbas, who chaired a meeting of his Fatah Party's Central Committee, warned Hamas that if it does not fully hand over power to the Palestinian Authority, "Hamas has to be fully responsible for the Gaza Strip."
