TAIPEI, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's industrial production index rose 1.33 percent from a year earlier to 112.96 in August, according to the island's economic affairs authority.

The sub-index for the manufacturing sector increased 1.85 percent year on year to 112.95 in August.

The production index for electronic components, the most heavily weighted within the manufacturing sector, rose 1.96 percent from a year earlier to 115.23.

In the meantime, Taiwan's wholesale revenue grew 4 percent year on year to 918.4 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 30 billion U.S. dollars) in August.

The retail revenue in August rose 0.6 percent to 344.6 billion new Taiwan dollars, while the catering sector increased 5.2 percent to 41.1 billion new Taiwan dollars.
