BEIJING, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Beijing customs on Friday said it detained 10,369 batches, totaling over 30,000 items of goods, suspected of copyright infringement worth an estimated 6.35 million yuan (940,000 U.S. dollars) in 2018.

The campaign has effectively contained the infringement act through import and export at Beijing port, the authority said.

In March 2018, customs detained 2,500 kg of bulk drugs worth about 3 million yuan declared by a Chinese company to be exported. The manufacturing technique of the drug, according to a previous investigation that lasted seven months, was suspected of patent infringement of another Chinese company.

Suspects were arrested after customs sent the case to the police, which found the company had exported an accumulative total of nearly 100 million yuan of goods.

In the meantime, Beijing customs tailored intellectual property protection solutions for 10 companies such as Xiaomi and Lenovo.

The authority said it will continue to reinforce intellectual property protection, especially in new industry fields such as cross-border e-commerce, carry out cross-regional enforcement in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and strengthen communication with proprietor enterprises and guilds to promote business innovation.
