TORONTO, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2019 kicked off Thursday, featuring 18 Gala presentations and 38 special presentations with 50 percent of Gala films.

TIFF is known for offering a cinematic menu that will satisfy filmgoers' taste.

Each September, TIFF plays host to some of the year's best and buzziest movies from American Beauty to A Star Is Born. This year, the slate is strong as ever, with the world premieres of Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu's Hustlers and the much-anticipated adaptation of Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch.

One of the benefits of TIFF is the diversity on display, so audience can see a blistering comedy, a prestige biopic, an unsettling psychological horror film, and a compelling mystery in the same day.
